History
New Era Heating and Cooling was founded in 2009 by Bryan Swanson, a 30-year HVAC veteran. Bryan is NATE-certified and holds a Master Mechanical license for the Springfield area.

What do you do?

How long have you been with New Era?
Since the very beginning.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
An archaeologist! I was fascinated by the idea of digging up pieces of history and discovering the stories behind them.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Super healing, like Wolverine. It’d be nice to bounce back from a long day on the job that fast.

What do you do?
I’m the “hub” that keeps the business running smoothly. My role blends administrative, financial, and customer services responsibilities while supporting both field technicians and company leadership.
How long have you been with New Era?
Since May 2025
Friends & Family Maintenance Tip Every Season?
Have your HVAC system professionally inspected and serviced twice a year to ensure it’s running safely and efficiently. Also, change your air filters at least every 30 days, especially in the summer.
What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
To find your voice and use it with confidence. Don’t be afraid to speak up for what you need or believe in, because you may not aways have someone else there to do it for you. Trust that your perspective matters and that advocating for yourself will open doors you never imagined.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would love the ability to teleport. Imagine skipping traffic, showing up anywhere in the world in an instant, and avoiding all the airport chaos. Bonus points if I could also bring a snack or coffee along!

What do you do?
I handle both service and installation work – everything from diagnosing tricky system issues to getting new equipment up and running. Every day brings something different, which keeps things interesting.
How long have you been with New Era?
About a year and a half, and it’s been a great fit. I’ve learned a ton and worked with some awesome customers and teammates along the way.
Most Interesting Project?
Ms. Gilmore’s project stands out – it had a few unexpected challenges, but those are the kinds of jobs that make you think on your feet and feel proud when everything comes together perfectly.
HVAC Myth Truth:
Cranking your thermostat way down (or up) won’t make your home heat or cool any faster. Your system works at the same pace either way, so all you’re really doing is making it run longer than it needs to.
Favorite Musician or Band?
Incubus. They’ve got a unique sound that mixes rock, funk, and soul – it’s great music to unwind to after a busy day.

Four years (or as I like to say, “four scores” – because it sounds way more impressive)

Definitely my dad, Bryan Swanson. I’ve learned a lot from him – not just about HVAC, but about running a business the right way and taking pride in your work.
What skill would you like to improve?
Also… working with my dad. (Kidding…kind of.) In all seriousness, I’d like to keep improving my communication and leadership skills as I take on more responsibility in the field.
What are you currently reading?
Anything written by Terry Brooks. I’m a big fan of his fantasy worlds and storytelling – it’s a nice escape after a long day.
